In 2008 we put this website together and delivered MYOB courses online and since then we’ve updated the course at least twice a year with new software training content as well as keeping up with bookkeeping regulation information for bookkeeping industry in Australia. This includes the creation of short courses in Xero, QuickBooks and other software and service to help students find work and start their own businesses.
How long will it take me to complete the course?
The fastest a student has gone through the COMPLETE short courses in MYOB, Xero or QuickBooks is 5 days (including all knowledge reviews).
The average time to complete a these short courses in bookkeeping is 2-3 weeks and some people take several months or simply use the courses as a resource during their course access period. If the training content in our online bookkeeping training courses was delivered in a face to face classroom environment it would take approximately 4-5 days for each software program.
Can I go over the training materials more than once?
Yes. The course videos can be watched over and over again as often as you want. The workbooks are available as a downloaded pdf file so you can print it and go over it as often as you want. The more you access and use the materials the faster you will complete the course.
Are there any prerequisites?
It is expected that you have a computer or mobile device with Internet access and that you are confident using a mouse (or tapping), downloading, launching programs and navigating around your computer (Windows OR Mac), tablet or phone. Although you’ll get through the course faster if you have an understanding of basic accounting / bookkeeping terminology the course includes training videos to teach you these things.
When can I start?
After you have completed the online enrolment form and made your payment you will receive an enrolment confirmation email confirming your enrolment and providing you with passwords to access your course. This will arrive by 5pm the next business day but often arrives the same day.
How long can I access the online accounting courses?
Since the January 14th 2011, we’ve offered lifetime access to the bookkeeping courses as an option, but otherwise students receive 12 months course access so check on the course options when you enrol or check your welcome email if you are an existing student.
Do I get a certificate?
If you choose the certificate option when you enrol, you will receive a certificate after you have successfully completed the online assessment questions and complete a course evaluation. If you did not choose a certificate option when you enrolled you can still answer the knowledge review questions and apply for an assessment and certificate.
How does assessment work?
The assessment questions are located at the end of each section or at the end of each course and comprise a series of questions which may include YES/NO, multiple choice, multiple answer or matching questions. When you submit your answers (you get 3 attempts) your answers are recorded in your student profile.
When you have completed them you let us know and an assessor will confirm that you passed each test and provide you with a certificate.
How do I get my certificate?
Your certificate is sent to you as a full colour PDF attachment via the student support area.
What type of certificate do I receive?
The default certificate is an EzyLearn certificate of completion that confirms you have accessed the course and successfully completed the knowledge reviews.
It contains a logo of the Bookkeeping Academy so you can put it in your resume to display the fact that you are a committed learner and part of an organisation devoted to continuing education.
Can I get a nationally recognised certificate?
The EzyLearn training material provides training on many aspects that are relevant to bookkeeping and Ezylearn aligned its training materials to the outcomes of nationally recognised qualifications. The certificate you receive for short courses is an EzyLearn Certificate of Completion.
To get a nationally recognised qualification and certificate you need to enrol into a bookkeeping course with a registered training organisation (RTO) – EzyLearn is not an RTO, but we partner with an RTO to help you succeed in your career with a pathway to higher qualifications in accounting. What if I have a problem using the online course
For the short courses EzyLearn support uses a ticketing system to keep track of problems you have or tasks that need to be performed for you (like assessment checking for your certificate). Students can access this online support for any questions they have regarding the course and any of our support team members can access your support history to provide personalised support for you.
What if I have problems getting started with online learning?
You are welcome to contact EzyLearn over the phone with help in navigating the learning site – although the welcome email contains all the information as well as a video about how to use the online learning site.
What’s included in the course?
The information pages on the website shows a list of each course and the course contents, choose which course you’d like to explore further and a detailed course description is displayed. There are also knowledge reviews and workbooks which contain step-by-step training instructions, exercises and examples.
You’ll be thrilled to know that the student support options give you the opportunity to pose a question of the Tutor and BAS agent of a scenario that may not be covered in the course material. The support team will then answer that question if its simple or write up some additional course notes. The course grows in size and content every quarter.
Do I need the software?
You don’t need the software to watch the videos and test your skill level with the knowledge reviews. We always recommend you download the software (it is available for free via a link at our online learning site), or sign up for a free trial if you are using MYOB Essentials, Xero or QuickBooks online accounting software.
How long does the course take?
Our COMPLETE online bookkeeping training course includes Beginners to Advanced skill leve for the price you’d expect to pay for one course (It includes Setup, Day-to-Day Transactions, Reporting & BAS and Payroll Administration) and the contents of the course is what we used to cover in approximately 5 full time days of training for each software program.
You can of course choose the training package that contains just the number of courses you want. The Microsoft Excel course includes beginners to Advanced and if you start from scratch there is the equivalent class-based content of 4 full days of training.
How do I get support?
There are multiple levels of support on course usage, training materials, case study projects as well as a student community where you can find answers and meet other students. You can contact the tutors direct online or if you have any questions you can get phone support.
Will I get support after the course?
Yes, you will have access to all training material for the duration of your membership which is currently 12 months or LIFETIME and Tutor support as part of the Student Community and Tutor Support Service.
Do I need an Internet connection?
Yes. Because you will watch educational videos we recommend you have a broadband internet connection.
Which version of the software do you use?
The MYOB AccountRight & Essentials training courses are constantly being updated when there is a significant change in the content or navigation around the software and as a student you receive access to this new and updated content.
The MYOB training courses use the MYOB AccountRight Plus (previously called MYOB Accounting Plus) because it includes all aspects of what you can do with the software, including Inventory and Payroll. We use the Windows version.
For MYOB Essentials there is one version regardless of the device you use to sign in because it is cloud-based software – just like our courses.
Xero Accounting software training course content is updated every quarter to keep up with product updates from Xero themselves
QuickBooks Online training course content is updated every quarter.
Our Excel online training course includes content from all versions from 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2016 versions of the Microsoft Excel software.
What if I have an Apple, iPad or Andoid device?
Software designers like MYOB and Microsoft create software for multiple platforms so that they can service the needs of as many business as possible. Although there are subtle differences between the versions on different platforms we have had many students complete the course using a MAC version. If you are not sure, take advantage of the money back guarantee and see for yourself.
Some of our earliest versions use Flash videos which may not be viewable on the latest iPad devices, but all new content is created in a format that is viewable on all platforms.
All online accounting software programs are the same regardless of your operating system and can even be accessed via Android or Apple mobile phones as well as Mac, Windows and even Linux computers and laptops – including Google Chromebooks.
What if I am based in New Zealand or another country?
Our bookkeeping software training is focused on the Australian version and include information about the GST, BAS and payroll for Australia, but students from Hong Kong, Canada, UK and New Zealand have completed the course?
Microsoft Excel training can be used in any country.

Can I buy the MYOB software from you?
No – we no longer sell it. Although we can supply the software to you we are in the training and workplace services industry and would not be competitive in pricing with the large retail discounters like Harvey Norman, JBHiFi or online comparison sites like Get Price and MyShopping.
